ScanSource Integration: Linking Products to ScanSource
For the integration to update a product's cost, it needs to recognize that the product is something you purchase from ScanSource. It does this by matching the ScanSource item number to information on your Rev.io product.
Where to Put the ScanSource Item Number
Every product in ScanSource has an item number. To link a Rev.io product to ScanSource, that item number must be on the product in one of the following fields depending on whether the product is already linked to ScanSource.
| Product Status | Where to Enter the ScanSource Item Number |
|---|---|
| Already has ScanSource listed as a vendor | The SKU/USOC field on the ScanSource vendor line on the Purchasing tab. |
| Not yet linked to ScanSource | The Manufacturer Part Number field. |
For products not yet linked to ScanSource, you do not need to know ScanSource's internal item number. The integration takes the manufacturer part number from your product, searches ScanSource's catalog for the matching item, and adds the ScanSource vendor line automatically, storing ScanSource's item number in the process.
Matching Rules
- Capitalization and spaces do not matter. The manufacturer part number matches regardless of upper or lower case or extra spaces.
- The full part number must match. A partial part number will not link a product.
- Products that do not match are left unchanged. The integration only touches products that match a ScanSource item.
- Obsolete and end-of-life items still match. If ScanSource still lists an item and returns a price for your account, the integration will find it and keep its cost current.
Why a Cost Sometimes Does Not Update
If a product's cost did not update, the most common reasons are:
- The Manufacturer Part # is not set on the product, or does not match exactly. Confirm the part number is entered correctly and matches the value in ScanSource's catalog.
- Your ScanSource account is not authorized to purchase the item. Items your account is not authorized to buy are skipped and left unchanged.
- ScanSource did not return a purchasable price for the item, for example an obsolete item with no active pricing. These items are skipped and left unchanged.
- The cost has not changed since the last sync. The integration only writes an update when the cost is different from what is already on the product.
