Datasets: Overview
Datasets are the structured data tables that power every chart and dashboard in the Analytics module. Each dataset connects directly to a table or view in your Rev.io database and defines which columns are available as dimensions (categories to group by) and metrics (values to calculate).
Datasets can be either physical, meaning they map directly to a table in your database, or virtual, meaning they are built from a custom query. We've included a library of ready-made datasets so you can start building charts right away. If you have the Create Reports permission, you can also create new virtual datasets to support custom reporting needs.
