# Number Management: Overview

Number Management is where you organize and track the telephone numbers you manage for your customers. To open it, click **Inventory** in the sidebar menu and select **Number Management**.

Telephone numbers are organized into number groups, which are a simple way to sort and keep related numbers together. Most clients will only have a single number group called DIDs, but if you have a large number of distinct types of numbers, you can choose to categorize them further if desired.

You can import blocks of numbers into a group in bulk, review how many are available, unavailable, and assigned, and assign numbers to your customers' recurring services.

NOTE: By default, when you add DID(s) directly to a customer's recurring service, that number is automatically added to number inventory and marked as assigned to the correct customer. If you do not pre-purchase blocks of numbers to keep in inventory, you do not have to upload numbers to number management and can simply use number management to address the DIDs you have added to customer accounts.
